TrustUK is a
non-profit organisation endorsed by the UK Government to enable consumers to
buy online with confidence. TrustUK provide advice on what to look for when
buying online.
Small firms: A Guide to Regulatory Requirements is designed to help businesses
be aware of the main
regulatory requirements that must be met when starting up in business
and how to comply with them.
The Internet Watch Foundation
(IWF) was launched in late September 1996 to address the problem of illegal
material on the Internet, with particular reference to child pornography. It is
an independent organisation to implement the proposals jointly agreed by the
government, the police, the two major UK service provider trade associations,
the
Internet Service Providers
Association (ISPA) and the
London
Internet Exchange Ltd (LINX).
The Data Protection Act came into force on 1 March 2000. It sets rules for
processing personal information and applies to paper records as well as those
held on computers.
